Solar Design Studio (2018) – Künstlerwohnhaus Zürich

Students were asked to design an artist residence with different studio spaces, residential spaces and a generous communal area. The building design should also allow for presentations of artistic work to a wider audience through installations, workshops, etc. Therefore, a central multi-purpose room was defined as an essential part of the design.

This Solar Design Studio continues the idea of ‘building-integrated photovoltaics’ as outlined in the Solar Design Studio 2017. The assignment was to come up with solutions that are both structurally and aesthetically convincing and which allow to supply the building with renewable energy.
